"Conceived as a high production value finale to the 1979 Doctor Who season. Written by Douglas Adams and starring Tom Baker as the Doctor and Lalla Ward as his assistant, Romana, Shada was to be shot on 16mm film with much of the action taking place on location in and around Cambridge. Between 60% and 70% of the 4 x 30 minutes story was shot and edited and the cast and crew returned to London to undertake the studio recording required to complete the film. However, an industry-wide technicians’ strike prevented this and by the time the industrial action was resolved, the studio allocated to Shada was gone. Shada was never completed but the edited footage, rushes, costumes and props still exist."
