Collects some of the best empirical research on training over a 30-year period (the 1970s-1990s) from two major publications in the human factors/ergonomics discipline. Articles are arranged in sections on transfer of training, training methods, training devices and simulators, application areas, and training evaluation. The application section is divided into three subareas of fight training, maintenance training, and cognitive skill training. Each section contains an introduction, and papers are arranged chronologically. Swezey is president of a research and consulting firm.
