Two volumes contain 191 contributions from the October 2002 symposium which was co-sponsored by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society (ISA formerly the Instrument Society of America) and took place in conjunction with ISA Expo 2002. Volume one begins with the keynote address, "Temperature Metrology and Its Impact on Industry," which describes NIST's research programs and their efforts to support US industry. The remaining papers describe global research on thermodynamic temperature determinations; temperature scales; temperature fixed points; calibration methods; thermocouple thermometry; radiation thermometry standards, properties, and applications; international comparisons; temperature control; novel thermometers (electronic, fiber-optic, and fluorescent); and thermometry for special applications, such as RTDs in nuclear power plants; in-situ optical wafer temperature measurements; and temperature sensors for extreme electronics.
