This volume addresses some of the dilemmas commonly encountered by supervisors working with psychotherapist trainees. Coverage includes challenges such as cultural misunderstandings, skill deficits, countertransference, and sexual attraction to clients. Drawing upon their own extensive supervisory experience, the authors present a model that allows for the transformation of such problems into opportunities for growth. The model is illustrated through the analysis of transcripts of trainee/supervisor dialogues. Ladany is director of doctoral training in the Counseling Psychology Program at Lehigh University.
