Plumly presents readers with an account of the so-called “immortal dinner” hosted by the artist Benjamin Robert Haydon to celebrate his historical painting Christ’s Entry into Jerusalem and to introduce his friend John Keats to William Wordsworth. The list of dinner guests also included English poet and essayist Charles Lamb. Plumly has organized his account of the evening in question, the relationships between the guests who attended, and the impacts of the party on their lives in fifty-seven chapters that include diary excerpts and other writings from those in attendance. Stanley Plumly is a poet, author, and winner of the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, living in Maryland. Annotation ©2015 Ringgold, Inc., Portland, OR (protoview.com)
