This restored version of Stanley Kubrick's gladiator epic rescues footage that industry censors considered too violent in 1960. Also restored is the now-infamous bathhouse scene in which Laurence Olivier, as Crassus, makes an advance on slave Antoninus (Tony Curtis) while discussing the culinary merits of oysters and snails. Listen close to Olivier's voice in this scene. It was dubbed for the late actor by Anthony Hopkins.
