This textbook is designed to hone critical thinking skills in regards to testing in the fundamentals of nursing. An introductory section explains the fundamentals of critical thinking related to test taking and the RACE (recognize, ask, critically analyze, and eliminate) model espoused by authors Nugent and Vitale (both emeritus, Nassau Community College, New York). Each ensuing short section contains keywords on a specific topic, followed by multiple choice questions and an answer section that not only includes the reason for the correct answer but also the rationale for the wrong ones. An ending chapter covers the RACE model in alternate test formats such as mutiple-response, hot-spot items, fill-in-the-blanks, and others. A glossary of terms is included as well as a CD-ROM that contains two 75-question practice exams. Annotation ©2008 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
